How do I post a job?

This guide will walk you through posting your first job, which typically takes 10-15 minutes to complete.

Before you start

Make sure you have a user profile connected to a company profile. If you don't have company access yet, follow this guide to get set up

Heads up for first-time posters: Your company's very first job will automatically go through a brief moderation review. This usually doesn't cause delays, but you'll get an email if we need any clarification.

Using an ATS? If you're posting from an Applicant Tracking System, some fields will be locked and can only be edited in your ATS. Learn more about ATS. .

Getting started

  1. Sign in to your account that's connected to your company profile.
  2. Click 'Jobs' from the top toolbar (or click here for a direct link).
  3. Click 'Post a Job' in the top right corner of the left-hand column.

You'll now see a form on the right-hand side with four main sections to fill out.

Section 1: Job Details

This is where you'll describe the role itself. These details help candidates understand what the position involves and whether it's a good fit.

Important note about salary: You can skip salary information, but this will trigger "limited distribution" - meaning your job gets hidden from most candidate searches. We'll explain how to fix this later if needed. Learn more about limited distribution

Fill out the required fields first (marked with *)

You'll need these four fields before you can publish:

  • Job Title* - Use terms candidates actually search for. "Software Engineer" works better than "Code Ninja"
  • Type of Position* - Choose from full-time, part-time, contract, etc.
  • Primary Role* - Pick the main category that fits your role (you can add a Secondary Role too)
  • Location* - Enter where the person will primarily work

Add salary and equity details

This is where many people get stuck, so here's what you need to know:

  • Salary - Must be within an 80K USD range (e.g., 80K-160K is fine, 50K-150K is not). If you don't include this, your job will have limited distribution
  • Currency - Select the appropriate currency for your salary
  • Equity - Keep the range within 15% (so 1-3% works, but 1-16% doesn't)

Not sure about competitive rates? Use our salary calculator to research market compensation.

Complete the remaining details

  • Description - Write a compelling overview that shows what makes this role exciting and what the day-to-day looks like
  • Work Experience - Specify how many years and what type of experience you're looking for
  • Skills - List the specific technologies, tools, and competencies you need
  • Visa Sponsorship - Let candidates know if you can sponsor visas
  • Remote preferences - Be clear about remote, hybrid, or on-site expectations

Remember: asterisks () mark required fields*

Section 2: Recruiting Contact

Now you'll set up who handles the applications and gets notified about activity.

  • Recruiting contact - Choose who will manage applications and communicate with candidates
  • Subscribers - Add anyone else who should get updates about this job (they'll receive notifications based on their account settings)
  • Work email option - If you want job notifications sent to your work email instead of your login email, add it here

Section 3: Tag Coworkers

Here's where you can show candidates who they'll be working with. Use the dropdown to select team members the new hire will collaborate with directly. This helps candidates get a feel for the team and culture.

Ready to publish?

  • Click 'Publish' to make your job live immediately
  • Click 'Save Draft' if you want to finish it later

Can't click Publish? Double-check that all required fields are complete and your salary range doesn't exceed 80K USD.

Tips for better results

Write searchable job titles

Keep titles under 80 characters and use terms candidates actually search for. Include your location for better search visibility.

Create compelling descriptions

Start with what makes this role and your company special. List your 5 most important responsibilities using bullet points for easy scanning. Including salary information increases applications by 30%.

Consider adding a "day in the life" section or timeline of job success (30/60/90 days). These illustrative passages force you to get specific details from hiring managers about the actual day-to-day work, helping candidates understand role fit while building excitement about the opportunity.

Be upfront about requirements

Clearly separate "must have" skills from "nice to have" ones. Be honest about challenges like travel or overtime - it saves everyone time.

Focus on essential skills

List technologies and competencies needed from day one. Be accurate about what's truly required versus what can be learned on the job.
